TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1, Tuesday
Depart the USA for Poland. Your flight includes meals,
drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey
DAY 2, Wednesday
Arrive in Krakow and enjoy a scenic drive through the city
en route to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. This
evening, enjoy an orientation meeting with your tour escort,
followed by a welcome dinner at a local restaurant (D): KRAKOW
DAY 3, Thurssday
Celebrate morning Mass with fellow pilgrims, then continue
on a guided tour of the city. On this exciting venture into one
of Poland's most important religious cities, you'll see the Old
Town area with its Market Square, considered one of the largest
town squares in Europe. The tour continues to visit St. Mary's
Basilica, featuring the famous Gothic wooden altarpiece carved
by Veit Stoss. Continue to view the Town Hall Tower, the Cloth
Hall, Burger houses, and several other impressive architectural
buildings for which Krakow is known. Be sure to listen for the
hejnał, the famous bugle call to the four corners of the world
from the high tower of St. Mary's Basilica. Have lunch at local
restaurant, and afterwards, enjoy a relaxing drive to the
Lagiewniki district to visit the Convent of the Sisters of
Mercy, where Saint Faustina, the Apostle of Divine Mercy, lived
and died. Return to Krakow this afternoon (B, L): KRAKOW
DAY 4, Friday
Today's sightseeing includes a full day excursion to the
cities of Auschwitz, Wadowice, and Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, with
lunch. The death camp of Oswiecim, known as Konzentrationslager
Auschwitz, was the largest of the Nazi concentration camps. On
this tour you'll view several of the units used to house
prisoners, including the largest at Brzezinka (Birkenau), as
well as visit the cell of the martyred St. Maximilian Kolbe. The
tour continues to Wadowice, the birthplace of Karol Wojtyla,
formally known as Pope John Paul II. Enjoy a visit to the museum
located in his family's house, then continue to Kalwaria
Zebzydowska, one of Poland's most sacred shrines, and a
frequented pilgrimage site for the late Pope in his early years.
Visit the 17th century Franciscan Monastery to view its
Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary and decorative cloisters. Return to
Krakow (B, L): KRAKOW
DAY 5, Saturday
This morning, depart Krakow and drive to the city of
Czestochowa, the principal center of the Catholic religion in
Poland for the last 600 years. Upon arrival, enjoy a visit to
one of the world's most famous shrines, Our Lady of Czestochowa,
within the Jasna Gora Monastery. Highlighting the religious,
historic and artistic values of Poland, Jasna Gora is frequented
by pilgrims from all over the world, owing to its sheer
structural majesty and its prized historical possessions
therein. Tour the oldest building, the Gothic Cathedral or Our
Lady, where you will find the shrine's most prized item, the
scared icon of the Black Madonna, there on a magnificent altar.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant nearby, before continuing to
Warsaw (B, L): WARSAW
DAY 6, Sunday
This morning, celebrate Sunday Mass, and afterwards,
continue on a guided city tour of Warsaw. View St. Kosta Church,
the Cathedral of St. John, Chopin's Monument, the Warsaw Ghetto,
Lazienki Park, and other historic landmarks for which this
capital city is famous. Continue to visit the Royal Palace, the
official residence of the Polish monarchs since the 17th
century, located at the Plac Zamkowy. Afternoon at leisure to
explore Warsaw on your own. This evening, celebrate your last
night in Poland with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant (B,
D): WARSAW
DAY 7, Monday
Transfer to the airport for your return flight home (B).
